MISS UNIVERSE INTERNATIONAL PAGEANT – 1995
- Produced, directed, conceptualised, created, managed and coordinated the 1995 pageant in Namibia, broadcast to over 2 billion people
- Tendered for the hosting agreement of the 1995 Miss Universe pageant and won the bid on behalf of our client, Stocks Hotels and Resorts, to stage the pageant for the first time ever in Africa
- The event was staged at the Windhoek Country Club and Resort in May 1995
- The campaign budget was $11,5 million and we were instrumental in obtaining support finance from the Government of Namibia and the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation
- In addition, we managed and co-ordinated the international event which encompassed the following aspects
- Negotiation of local, national and international television coverage and sales
- Devising and production of a pre- and post-production television campaign, which included delegates’ interviews, background on Namibia, history of the Miss Universe pageant
- Devising, executing and monitoring of the marketing campaign
- Securing of event, supplier and television sponsors
- Sponsorship management and co-ordination
- Designing and producing the corporate image
- Design and production of all merchandising including gift packs, 120-page program book, delegates’ profiles
- Organising, managing and co-ordinating VIP functions that included air charter, hotel accommodation, catering, special gifts, invitations and Public Relations
- Management and co-ordination of event
- Financial management and reporting on a monthly basis
- Government liaison
